As many of you know June nineteenth is a very special day in African American history. It is the day that the last slaves were informed that they were finally free!In honor of this special day Grandma’s Place is hosting a block party! There will be live music, food and classic games! Grandma’s Place is partnering with a few local businesses to bring a fun Covid safe event to the community. Grandma Dawn will be teaching kids how to play classic street games such as hopscotch, double-Dutch jump roping as well as Skelly’s. We are so excited that it is finally a little safer to engage with our community and enjoy each others company.
We will be using this event to fundraise for our Book Mobile. We are also using this event as a thank you to our community for rallying to help us and support us. As you know earlier in the pandemic we were forced to shut down as we were deemed nonessential. This took a devastating blow on our business and we were close to shutting down. With the community’s help we were able to come back stronger than ever. We are so thankful that you all helped to save this 21 year old pillar of the community.
With your continued support we will be able to bring a book mobile to the neighborhood. It is Grandma Dawn’s dream to make sure every child has a book in their hands.
Please join us on Saturday June 19th, 2021 from 12pm-5pm at our fundraising Juneteenth Block Party!
This sounds Amazing!
